There is active involvement in high-impact research projects such as the Panglao Marine Biodiversity Project (a.k.a. Panglao Project 2004), from May 29 to July 9, 2004, collaborated between USC and the National Museum of Natural History, Paris, and participated by over 70 scientists from 17 countries.

The department’s research agenda have developed over the years since the department was established. These agenda falls into two major categories: 1) Biodiversity and 2) Eco-physiology under which are various topics of interest to the faculty researchers, like taxonomy and ecology, public health, and environmental management.
