Undergraduate Program


The four-year BS Biology and BS Marine Biology programs help students learn the principles, both theoretical and applied, of Biology via classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and field investigation. Students are exposed early on in the fundamentals of the discipline to provide them with a feel of being a biologist. About half of the BS Biology graduates enter medical schools in Cebu and elsewhere. Recently, a BS Biology major in Environmental Science degree has been offered for those keen in pursuing a career as environmental biologist.

To emphasize scientific training, a thesis representing original research is required for both undergraduate and graduate students. The students are mentored by the Department’s pool of faculty-researchers who themselves conduct research in their fields of interest.
