Awards and Distinction

The USC Department of Chemistry is accredited by the Philippine Association of Accredited Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) to deliver the M.S. Chemistry (Level 2) and B.S. Chemistry (Level 3) programs.

The Commission on Higher Education Higher Education Development Project-Faculty Development Program (CHED HEDP-FDP) also designated the Department as a delivering institution for the Master of Chemistry (non-thesis) program. It was also designated as a CHED-Center of Development (1998-2005) with an outright grant of P3 million. In 2006, CHED recognized the Department as a Center of Excellence (COE) in Chemistry, one of only seven institutions in the Philippines designated as COE and the only one in the Visayas, stamping its standing and reputation in the region.

Due to its consistent performance in the Chemist Licensure Examination, the Professional Regulation Commission named the Department as the nation's Top Performing School in 1998 and 2000.
