Further Studies
While some of our graduates of B.S. Chemistry have joined the exodus of Filipinos overseas to work as practising chemists, many more leave to pursue M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in universities in the U.S., Europe, Australia and Japan. Faculty members in the department who have returned from illustrious universities serve as inspiration for a new generation of chemists.
Among those who have established themselves overseas are Didicto C. Ingente (Class 2001, Proctor & Gamble–Saudi Arabia), Peniel Jason Y. Lim (Class 1998, Exxon Mobil), Brian Joseph Sinajon (Class 1998, Dow Chemicals), Reiner J. Crisologo (Class 1991, Unilever Dubai), and Cheryl de los Reyes–Lebkuecher (Class 1991, Valero). Many are connected with Universities, for example, Sanjiv Kumar S. Lalwani (Class 1998, Texas A&M University), Anne Kathrena Aliganga (Class 1996, Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research) and Jack Hess L. Baricuatro (Class 1993, University of Washington) are postdoctoral associates.
Many of our recent graduates are pursuing studies overseas. At Wichita State University, Irish Alcalen and Janet de los Reyes, both from Class 2001, pursue their Ph.D. degrees. Quinner Baltazar, also from Class 2001, left a good-paying job with San Miguel Corporation to pursue his M.S. at the University of Toledo (Ohio). Chariz Y. Peñalber and Rosanna Angela D. Soriaga, both Class 2006, are leaving for Ph.D. studies at the University of Houston.
