Department of Chemistry
Graduate Program
Master of Science in Chemistry
The Master of Science in Chemistry program is ideal preparation for students intending to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Industry professionals who wish to be updated in content, current techniques and instrumentation, and research skills are also advised to enroll in this program.
For completion, the program requires 34 units, with another nine units for research. The course work may be completed in four semesters. A student must pass a written comprehensive examination before undertaking a research project. Research topics in the Department include strong emphasis on Environmental Chemistry, health-related studies, method development, and inorganic synthesis (see research page).
Many of our graduates proceed to take Ph.D. programs in the universities abroad, particularly those in the United States, Japan, Europe, and Australia.
