Admission Requirements
Undergraduate Program
For New Students
School Ability Test (IQ) results should be at least 88%.
English Proficiency Test raw score should not be less than 21 pts.
High School Grade average for academic subjects should not be less than 80%.
For Shiftees and Transferees
A final grade of at least 2.5 in History 15/16 or 17 and passing grade in all basic (general) subjects of the current semester.
Retention Policy
Any student who fails in more than 1/3 of the total number of subject enrolled during the semester, whether it is a grade of 5.0 or NC (excluding NSTP), shall be placed under probation for the next term. While under probation, the student’s total load shall not exceed 15 units (excluding NSTP) Academic load will be determined and assigned by the Chair or Faculty Adviser of the History Department.
A student under probation should pass all subjects enrolled. Should a student fail in any of the subjects, he will be advised to shift to another course. Any student who fails in any two major subjects (5.0 or NC) during a semester shall be advised to shift.
These policies do not apply to students who have earned a total of 153 units. However, the 15 units penalty for students under probation shall apply until such time that they are taken off the probation list.
Residency
History Majors who have decided to shift to another course shall not be re-admitted to the AB History Program unless such application for admission is for a second course.
No “temporary” enrollment shall be allowed for students who are planning to shift to another course, pending the improvement of their grades.
Graduate Program
The program is open to any Bachelor’s degree holder from any recognized institution of higher learning. However, those with less than 18 units of History major courses have to earn additional 12 units from the list of elective courses as a requirement before being considered a candidate for graduation. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements as set by the School of Graduate Studies of the College of Arts and Sciences.
For the Certificate in Cebuano Heritage Studies, the requirements are: a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution and a proof of involvement in cultural work related to Cebuano heritage.
