Overview
The University of San Carlos Department of Library Science is the pioneer library school outside Metro manila that produces most of the librarians who are now in place as Director of Libraries in Central Visayas and Mindanao.
The Department of Library Science offers two undergraduate (Bachelor of Arts major in Library and Information Science and Bachelor of Library and Information Science) and three graduate programs (Master of Science in Library Science, Master of Library and Information Science - Thesis Program and Master of Library and Information Science - Non-Thesis Program).

Aims & Objectives
The Department of Library Science provide students exposure to organize collection and manage libraries. We support the goals of the institution through a program designed for the total development of information providers imbued with the Christian spirit of service, highest ethical standards and sense of responsibility. It aims to accomplish the following objectives:
1. To provide training for a professional career in library and information science through a well-rounded liberal arts education, course specialization, and actual application of theories;
2. To produce competent, value-oriented, dedicated professionals to serve as catalysts for development and societal change;
3. To answer the demands of institutions throughout the regions for qualified librarians and information specialists to provide leadership and dedicated services in their own libraries.
4. To sustain the personal and professional growth of librarians by continually upgrading and adapting in the curriculum new trends and changes in the field of library and information science as well as conducting reviews for the licensure examinations;
5. To extend community services by sharing professional expertise of the faculty and the assistance of Library Science students in helping organized library and information and reading centers.
