Master of Arts in Philosophy
The program is designed to enable students to have scholarly appropriation of the issues perennially associated with philosophy and to develop their own scholarly expertise in particular subjects, themes and person.
Objectives
- To afford the students the opportunity to acquire a broader philosophical background that will enable them to pursue higher studies in philosophy
- To encourage and challenge students to grow in independent and original thinking by helping them in their research endeavor
- To direct research activities toward providing a philosophical basis for the solution of social problems, thereby contributing indirectly to the country’s progress and total development
Requirements for Admission to the Program
- Applicants to MA Philo Program are degree holders of Ph.B/AB major in Philosophy (Program A)
- Applicants, who are not Ph.B/AB major in Philosophy, are allowed to join the MA Program but must take the following prerequisite subjects in Philosophy: Ancient Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, and Contemporary Philosophy, Philosophy of the Human Person, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Cosmology, and Theodicy (Program B)
