Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy

The Ph.D. in Philosophy program is so structured that the student studies the writings of the philosophers themselves, and all research work (term papers and dissertation) are expected to relate the philosophical insights of the world’s greatest thinkers to those of Filipino writers, or to some aspects of Filipino Culture.

Objectives

• To master the method of acquiring a personal, reflective knowledge of the most significant works written by the greatest thinkers themselves through the centuries
• To accustom students to relate the insights acquired from studies to the Philippine situation here and now
• To contribute to the development of the Filipino thought through research, thereby share in the enrichment of Philippine culture.
